Detroit Grand Prix

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, the Detroit Grand Prix dedicated the Credential Center to Merriam as the Merriam Weglarz Credential Center. Certainly a well deserved tribute to a dedicated member of the Detroit Grand Prix team.
Her family, including Ed, Doug, Greg, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and grandson Joseph were fortunate enough to be in attendance for the dedication.
Whenever you watch or attend the Detroit Grand Prix, remember Merriam and all the years she spent ensuring that Downtown Detroit and Belle Isle shined on the national stage.
Our family is happy that her legacy will live on at the Detroit Grand Prix for years to come thank you to the efforts of Rena Shanaman, Hannah Deacon, and Michael Montri along with the Detroit Grand Prix Association and the countless volunteers that worked with Merriam over the years.

Welcome to the Merriam Weglarz Credential Center
When Merriam unexpectedly passed away on November 16, 2020, the Detroit Grand Prix lost one of its most dedicated and valued staff members. For more than 30 years, she served as the event’s Accreditation Manager with never-ending attention to detail and a commitment to superior guest service, all delivered with her effervescent smile. While Detroit is where she started, Merriam administered the credentialing/registration process at more than 100 Indycar racing events across North America, making many friends along the way. She is dearly missed by those friends, associates, co-workers, and volunteer staff, as well as those she served over the past four decades.
